Aaron Mortvedt reviewed a week agoQuality ExcellentMy only complaint - the service was so fast, I didn't even have time to finish my complimentary cup of coffee. Luckily it was in a To-Go cup so I could finish it on my way back to work. Everyone that I have encountered in my visits has been very professional, courteous and well versed in their jobs. This has become the only place that I get my family's oil changed. LOF has been a great addition to Ames.

No matter what time of day I go or whatever technician I get, every person there is so friendly and helpful. I've never had a bad experience. The staff explains everything that they doing and why they are doing it, and they always offer you a beverage. I think this place definitely needs to become a franchise! I just love this place.
Chris J reviewed 2 months agoQuality GoodThe service is good, the people are kind(face value at least), but a situation happened where the ethical standing of the company has made my family and I withdraw our accounts. One of the employees took advantage of a19 year old girl. The employee traded their vehicle with her and reassured her it was a fair trade. The car the employee traded is barely in working condition. Apparently due to it being "private business"(which depends on which side you are hearing) LOF is not willing to look into at all. I understand policy and covering your own assets, but when an employee admits he did an unethical trade to a young woman, with no repercussions whatsoever, it is a reflection on the company. Needles to say it has shaken our trust at an otherwise great place. Wish i was invited to speak in person, would have been a good business decision to even pretend you respect your customers enough to give them that. This is not to attack the company but if you are a ethically sound individual, who still believes in having a honest moral compass, this review may be something to consider. Reviewed a 1 not 0 because prior to this they were great. Needless to say our vehicles are now being serviced elsewhere.

I moved to Rochester NY and I was hoping that there would be an LOF here! I hope you decide to invest in franchising and or chain vend your concept! I would love to see more of these and I wish there were one I could easily drive to here as my vehicles are ready for some LOF TLC! On March 24, I was driving from Des Moines to Minnesota and back that day and needed an oil change, so I started looking for coupons. After reading the comments I thought I'd give your shop a try and I'm glad I did. The service was outstanding and at a reasonable price. I was greeted by your staff as soon as I pulled in the drive, asked what services I required and was invited to check my tires and vacuum my car. All the staff I dealt with were prompt, professional, friendly, and knowledgeable, and most of all, not trying to sell unneeded services. Everything about the place was as advertised. I could see your employees take a lot of pride in what they do. I aired my tires, vacuumed the car, had the oil changed and was out the door in under fifteen minutes. I was the slow one in the process. The oil change itself only took about 5 minutes. In an odd twist of fate, I have just been promoted in my employment and transferred to Ames. You'll be seeing a LOT more of me and I highly recommend your shop and service. See you again in a few weeks.

A Google User reviewed 7 months agoOverall ExcellentI was recommended to LOF by Logan. He comes into my business, and invited me to try his out. The auto body shop that I have always had my car serviced at since I purchased it closed recently. Since then, I have been trying very hard to find a new place to get my car serviced. I did get a synthetic oil change done and also went through the full-service line. They let me know there recommendations and also the prices and specials of those services. This I liked very much. I like the same person to work on my car every time, but I suppose I will try to adapt as it seems everyone there is proficient in their tasks. I shall return, and will be recommending this place to people when they ask. I say thee yea!

Lof-Express let me stay in my car, and explained what they were doing every step of the way. I walked away confident in what I had paid for, and knowing that the work was done right. I won't go anywhere else, I and drive up from Des Moines just for their great service-- please consider expanding to Des Moines, we need you!

A Google User reviewed 10 months agoOverall ExcellentGreat service. I sent my girl friend over for them to change her oil. I usually do it but with the colder weather and not having a place to do it, made me send her there to try out. They put the Mobil 1 High Mileage I had gotten her along with the Napa Gold filter. She was in and out with no problems! However, 3 days later we noticed a significant oil leak coming from her car. We called them about the issue and here's what they did. 1). Picked up the car from her work 2) Called her after they identified the problem as a bad o-ring seal that they nicked changing the oil. 3).They replaced the o-ring seal and re-filled the car with Mobil 1 HM. 4). Delivered the car back to her at work. 5). Gave her a gift card for a free oil change for her troubles. All of this for free. You can't find a better place than that! Excellent customer service and have the "small town values" of treating their people right.
A Google User reviewed 10 months agoOverall ExcellentI used LOF for the first time and it met all my expectations. I have always changed my own oil because I have never found a shop I like. The staff met me at the Kiosk outside and helped me make choices. They informed me the wait was 10 minutes and the work would take 5 minutes for oil change only service which I was getting, both turned out to be accurate. They had cameras where I could watch them work both above and below my car, which satisfied me they were doing the work correctly. I think I'll be returning to LOF with both my vehicles from now on.

After reading all the reviews here, I decided to check it out myself. It is exactly as what the other reviewers said! Great customer service, super friendly staff, and I love it! The staff is very friendly and my oil was changed in 5 minutes, just enough time for me to grab some coffee. I was then able to complete my visit by using thier free automatic tire air pump and vacuum to clean out my car. I will definitely be returning! I recommend this to anyone in the Ames area!

I am proud to say that I will continue to go back, and *highly* recommend anyone in the Ames area to get their oil/fluids changed here! By the bye, this is a locally owned business! The building, staff, and atmosphere is way nicer than any national chains. Great coffee, tea and hot chocolate too!

Would you guys change the oil if we brought in our own brands, for example my Audi requires Premium Synthetic, If I brought 4.5 Qts, would you guys change the oil? Now I understand if anything goes wrong with the oil you're not liable. But that would be a cool idea!!!
A Google User reviewed a year agoOverall Poor to fairYesterday I was driving with a friends boat and found a thumping noise coming from my front end... I found one of my front tires lug nuts were about to fall off and the tire was wobbling. I I recently had my tires rotated by LOF and they simply didn't tighten them. I called and spoke with the manager. He assured me he watched the video of the mech working on my car and he torqued the lugs three times as per there policy. The video cant possibly show he had the torque set right. But in my 33 yrs experience and 10yrs of tire tire rotations on this vehicle I have never had a wheel come lose. I got a "well I dont know how that would happened".. I know exactly how it happened.. Your tech didnt tighten them. I also found another lug nut lose... I expect professional service and at least some acknowledgement that you were the last ones to touch the tire... JIffy Lube your back in business :(

I always changed my own oil and serviced my own vehicles but this is so fast and easy Ill never change my own oil again. Workers were very friend and extremely helpful. Can't say enough good things. I've never had a positive experience where the employees didn't try to upsell my or charge me for something dumb. This place was totally different. I will def be back and am sad they don't have any of these in my hometown because I'd love my family to have the same experience!! Great job!

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and, most importantly, did not "talk down" to me. They did not try to sell me anything (my air filter is fine, Jiffy Lube) and did not treat me like an idiot. Not treating customers like idiots... what a novel approach for a business to take. I can literally not speak more highly of my experience at LOF Xpress and I have already been referring friends in Ames and from surrounding areas to LOF. I will never go elsewhere for an oil change as long as I live in Ames. A+

They make suggestions if needed without pushing a sale on you. Its fast, easy, and convenient! The place is so clean and tidy. They offer a pet friendly lounge with free carribou coffee. Another thing that impressed me was the owner, Ted, is out there working too, not just sitting behind a desk. I recommend LOF to everyone!

Stay away from this psycho. That said, the manager tried hard to diffuse the situation, but the owner is just a maniac.

My car was a "special case" and took a filter that they didn't carry, they made me aware of the situation, and said they would run next door to pick up a filter for me from the auto parts store! Talk about helpful and honest! The free vacuum and air is an added bonus, as is the free coffee, tea, or water in the waiting lounge if you want to sit in air conditioning while they change your oil. Price was outstanding for the level of service they offer. My only suggestion is to open one in the Twin Cities area so I don't have to plan my oil changes around Ames visits!

Now after I came back from there, I should say agree with everybody else's review: They are fast, polite, professional and the price is reasonable. I did the PLUS and they recommended some additional service but also told me that I could consider it later. They have also free vacuum etc right outside.

They do not pressure about additional services, they actually came out and showed me the condition of the car fluids and air filter and told me I did not need to consider changing them at this time. Service was quick. I will be back and have recommended it already to others.

They explained each step of the process and didn't make me feel like an idiot for not being car saavy. You can get in and out in 5 minutes for an oil change. You can hardly get through McDonald's drive through in 5 minutes. I don't even live in Ames, but I plan on getting my car serviced here on my way through. LOF-Xpress...you should open up a place in Iowa City! This place is a great concept and it's been executed it AMAZINGLY!

In 18 years of driving, and living in GA, WI, CA, and now IA, I have never experienced an oil change location like LOF. They even seemed to notice my window was taped up before I even pulled all the way to the initial button screen and had someone jog out to do it for me - unless they always have someone on standby for that. Either way, I don't want to go anywhere else again! Wow!

I had been going to another large chain place in town and always felt taken for granted and taken advantage of not to mention down right hostile employees. LOF-X has taken the anxiety of getting my oil changed and for a very reasonable price.

On my last visit their was a very rowdy and outrageous customer, but I thought the staff handled the situation perfectly. I'll definitely go back.

I've had several TERRIBLE experiences at both Ames and Des Moines Jiffy Lubes, including them damaging my car and making me pay for the part myself. I was hesitant to try LOF but it was fast and no one tried to sell me a new air filter (JL always lies and says it's bad, even when it's new). As a "poor college student" who doesn't have a lot of free time, this place was fast and affordable. A++

I was in and out within 5-7 minutes as a new customer and three separate employees stopped by and talked to me about topics ranging from my car to Cyclone athletics. Everyone was very pleasant, knowledgeable and really went out of their way to make sure I was having a positive experience. At the low prices LOF Express offers, I wasn't expecting anywhere near the service I received, and they have gained a new regular customer.

They also have free DIY tire air and vacuuming after the oil change. Amazing service. Will be recommending to my friends and family.

You are in and out in no time AND you get to enjoy a free coffee (legitimately good coffee!!!) while you wait! No one tried to sell me a bunch of services I know nothing about which was really nice! I got my oil changed, a good cup of coffee and I was on the road again within 10 minutes.
